1666: Amsterdam

Amsterdam in 1666 is a prosperous, rain-slick city whose elegant canals and merchant façades conceal an older, uglier order. This supernatural action-adventure follows Noa Brooklyn, a woman raised as “the Collector” by the Zaindaris, a lineage that trains her to reclaim power from immortal beings known as the Originals. These creatures pass unnoticed among ordinary people while exploiting centuries of influence, and Noa’s task is to find them before their debt comes due. The mood balances historical intrigue, occult menace, and the tension of hunting monsters that wear familiar human faces.

Daylight is for navigating a carefully built version of the city, reading its architecture and gablestones for clues, and working out which citizens are not what they claim to be. At night, investigations lead toward an Esbat, a moonlit confrontation where a marked Original reveals its real form and Noa uses inherited witchcraft to settle the score. Spellcasting, timing, and strategic preparation appear to drive these encounters rather than simple button-mashing, while multiple approaches to each target encourage players to assess situations instead of following one fixed route. Noa also shares the investigation with Aaron, a man pulled from 1999 and trapped in a cat’s body, with players switching between Noa’s magical capabilities and Aaron’s feline perspective.

The two-character structure gives the premise more personality than a standard historical stealth adventure: one protagonist commands occult power, while the other can presumably slip through spaces and observe the city from an entirely different angle. Amsterdam’s gabled houses, canals, and public grandeur are not just period decoration; the central mystery asks players to look past every polished surface.
