Adventures of Bertram Fiddle 2: A Bleaker Predicklement follows self-proclaimed master explorer Bertram after domestic pressure pushes him into a respectable job selling telegrams for Dulsworth’s Soap Factory. Respectability does not last long: the factory hides something deeply wrong, and Bertram is soon pulled back toward the trail of Geoff the Murderer. The mood balances Hammer Horror gloom, Sherlock-style investigation, and deliberately ridiculous British comedy, making every sinister revelation land with a groan-worthy joke nearby.

Players guide Bertram through more than 60 hand-drawn locations, clicking through environments for clues, objects, conversations, and the odd visual gag. Progress depends on traditional adventure-game logic: collect unusual inventory items, combine them in questionable ways, question an eccentric supporting cast, and solve puzzles that open new parts of the city and factory. Animated interactions and full voice acting give even minor characters personality, while Cam Reynolds’ score adds the knowingly cheap, dramatic flavor of a 1970s B-movie. The adventure also breaks up its investigation with strange diversions, including a meat-based creation mini-game and a large-scale monster encounter.

Its strongest asset is commitment to absurdity without abandoning the mystery underneath. Detailed backdrops reward players who inspect everything, and the writing turns Victorian manners, industrial grime, and Lovecraftian menace into fertile ground for jokes both clever and intentionally awful. The sequel retains the approachable point-and-click structure of classics such as Monkey Island while leaning harder into macabre cartoon humor than most modern adventures. Fans of the first Bertram Fiddle, humorous mysteries, and puzzle adventures that value character over action will find plenty to enjoy, while newcomers can still follow Bertram’s increasingly miserable detective career.
