Hell becomes a neon-soaked bar crawl where two college friends have one outrageous chance to reverse their deaths: drink Satan under the table and earn a ride back to Earth. Afterparty trades horror for sharp comedy, anxious self-reflection, and a surprisingly human look at friendship under pressure. Milo and Lola arrive in the underworld with fragmented memories of their final night, then spend the evening crossing bizarre districts packed with demons, parties, and bureaucratic absurdity. The mood lands somewhere between a supernatural sitcom and a late-night disaster story, with plenty of wit beneath its infernal chaos.

Most of the action centers on walking through side-scrolling locations, talking to a huge cast of oddballs, and choosing how Milo or Lola responds in fast-moving conversations. Dialogue is not merely cosmetic: selecting drinks changes each character’s attitude and unlocks different response styles, letting them become more confident, hostile, charming, or reckless during key encounters. Beer pong, dance-offs, chugging contests, and other drinking-fueled diversions break up the conversations, while the River Styx links the game’s island-like areas and encourages detours for optional character moments. Choices influence relationships, scenes, and the route toward the showdown with Satan, although the focus remains on narrative personality rather than demanding mechanical challenge.

What makes Afterparty memorable is how naturally it uses alcohol as a branching dialogue tool instead of a simple joke or inventory system. The hand-painted 2D presentation gives Hell the feel of an endless nightlife district, while SCNTFC’s electronic score and an excellent voice cast sell both punchlines and vulnerable exchanges. Its story is shorter and more contained than sprawling choice-driven RPGs, but alternate conversations and character outcomes give a second run genuine appeal. Fans of Oxenfree, Telltale-style adventures, and dialogue-heavy indie games should feel at home, especially if they want a funny, stylish narrative that still has room for emotional fallout.
