Rather than simply surviving an endless stream of enemies, you work through a finite campaign of 30 designed maps, each with its own terrain, dangers, and tactical opportunities. The mood is methodical but not sleepy: every misplaced wall or greedy investment can leave a carefully engineered defense exposed.

Matches revolve around constructing winding mazes that force enemies through the longest, most punishing path possible, then positioning towers to exploit that route. Terrain contours and special tiles shape your options, so success comes from reading the board before spending resources. New towers unlock across the campaign and can be improved, while enemies range from lesser corrupted creatures to four major TITANS that demand more than one reliable setup. A small economy adds meaningful risk through farms: they can fund powerful defenses, but incorporating them into a maze consumes precious space and can make a previously safe layout harder to protect. Since waves are authored rather than randomly assembled, levels reward observation, experimentation, and learning how specific enemy groups behave.

What separates Artisan TD from more traditional lane-based tower defense games is its emphasis on player-made paths. It has some of the satisfying maze construction of Defense Grid and the board-focused problem solving of a strategy puzzle game, but its compact islands and explicit map rules keep the focus sharp. Certain stages impose special conditions that force you to rethink familiar tower combinations instead of repeating one dominant build. The clean PBR 3D presentation reads well from a distance and supports controller play, making it suitable for a living-room screen as well as a desktop setup.
