Beyond Contact presents that struggle as a top-down science-fiction survival adventure, pairing the colorful, chunky style of vintage pulp comics with a darker story about ecological collapse and desperate civilizations. Story Mode follows Space Corps agent Quinn Hicks as she investigates the catastrophe, navigates faction politics, and attempts to avert a planetary disaster. Conquest Mode offers a less scripted alternative, letting players concentrate on expanding a settlement, defending it, and enduring the hostile world on their own terms.

Each expedition revolves around scanning strange lifeforms, mining rare resources, gathering salvage, and bringing those materials home for research and crafting. New blueprints unlock practical tools, weapons, defensive gadgets, and even altered crops that make farming possible in an inhospitable environment, while habitat construction requires players to think about layouts, electricity, and connected power networks. Combat is quick and direct, with corrupted creatures and environmental dangers pressuring players to prepare rather than simply wander. Cooperative multiplayer supports shared base-building and objectives, while distinct characters such as the combat-oriented Kangah and builder-minded Professor Zaine give a group clearer roles; downed allies can also be revived when a run goes badly.

Its strongest feature is the way familiar survival-crafting systems fit into an unusually lively alien setting, full of bizarre plants, wildlife, shifting biomes, hazardous weather, and ominous rifts. Adjustable difficulty settings make the experience workable for players who want a guided sci-fi campaign as well as survival veterans who enjoy tighter resource management and tougher attacks. The comic-book presentation helps it stand apart from more drab genre peers, while the research tree and cooperative character choices add welcome structure to the usual gather-build-fight loop.
