BlazBlue Centralfiction brings the long-running Azure storyline to a dramatic close, mixing apocalyptic science-fantasy, rival clans, strange creatures, and reality-bending conspiracies with beautifully animated visual-novel scenes. Its tone is proudly maximalist: screens erupt with color, metal guitars drive the action, and even routine matches feel like climactic boss fights. Beneath that spectacle sits a remarkably technical 2D fighter built for players who enjoy expression as much as execution.

Matches revolve around four attack buttons, including each fighter’s signature Drive ability, which can summon weapons, manipulate resources, create traps, or radically alter movement. Fast airdashes, double jumps, barrier defense, Counter Assaults, Overdrives, and devastating Distortion Drives give offense and defense plenty of layers, while the Heat gauge rewards smart momentum management. What separates Centralfiction from many anime fighters is how willingly it embraces character-specific complexity without losing its immediate visual clarity. Every combatant has a strong identity, and the game’s aggressive movement system creates rapid, improvisational exchanges closer to Guilty Gear than the grounded footsie battles of Street Fighter. The story mode is enormous and heavily text-driven, so players invested in prior BlazBlue lore get the most emotional payoff, though newcomers can still enjoy the absurd cast and stylish presentation.
