A cursed crystal becomes both your burden and your best hope in this demanding tactical roguelike. Blightstone sends a small band of adventurers across hostile, shifting lands with the Earthglass Crystal, aiming to reach the Infernal Rift before demon lord Korghul and the spreading corruption consume everything. The mood is bleak but not hopeless: every failed expedition feeds into a broader campaign of learning, unlocking, and trying again with smarter tactics.

Combat unfolds on open battlefields rather than a strict square grid, letting positioning feel more natural than in many turn-based strategy games. Heroes move through grass, water, cover, and dangerous terrain while weather changes the rules around them; rain can empower lightning, fog obscures targets, and wind interferes with ranged attacks. Parties are assembled from classes such as Brawlers, Hunters, Arcanists, Druids, and Priests, with each bringing distinct attacks, support options, and in some cases animal companions. Between fights, players scavenge supplies, make camp as darkness arrives, manage healing, and invest persistent rewards into stronger characters and crystal abilities for the next run.

Environmental manipulation gives Blightstone much of its identity, since burning vegetation, forcing enemies into water, or layering poison, stuns, bleeding, and binds can matter more than raw damage. Its procedural maps and gradual story revelations keep repeated attempts from feeling like identical retries, while the large mix of active, passive, area, ranged, melee, and grappling skills encourages experimentation. Fans of tactical roguelikes such as Into the Breach or Darkest Dungeon who want freer movement and more terrain interaction should find plenty to dig into, though its punishing loop suits players willing to accept failure as part of the strategy.
