A resurrected gunslinger with a grudge against a dark god tears through one of the nastiest shooters of the 1990s. Blood: Fresh Supply preserves the original’s gleefully macabre mix of occult horror, black comedy, and relentless BUILD-engine action, casting players as Caleb on a revenge spree against Tchernobog and his monstrous followers. Cultists, undead, gargoyles, hellhounds, and stranger abominations fill a campaign that feels like a haunted carnival built from slasher movies and Lovecraftian nightmares. Its mood is grimy and vicious, but the exaggerated violence and bizarre weapons keep it playfully over-the-top rather than oppressive.

Combat begins with a humble pitchfork before steadily expanding into shotguns, dynamite bundles, flare guns, aerosol-can firebombs, voodoo dolls, and other wonderfully impractical tools of destruction. Levels reward careful searching as much as fast reflexes, hiding keys, switches, secrets, traps, and alternate routes inside sprawling churches, train stations, carnivals, and ruined strongholds. The package includes the base campaign alongside Plasma Pak and Cryptic Passage, providing 42 maps packed with ambushes and enemy encounters that can still punish careless players. Fresh Supply modernizes the original through the KEX Engine, adding high-resolution support, uncapped frame rates, configurable controls, proper controller options, and the choice between classic aiming behavior or a more modern vertical look system.

What separates Blood from many retro shooters is its personality: enemies react dramatically to damage, environments are dense with grim visual jokes, and almost every weapon has a memorable, messy purpose. The rebuilt multiplayer supports up to eight players online for co-op, deathmatch-style Bloodbath, and Capture the Flag, while local split-screen keeps the old couch rivalry intact. Existing mods receive improved support, and custom CD or MIDI music options make it easy to tailor the atmosphere. Fans of Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, and Dusk who want a harder, meaner, more horror-soaked campaign find plenty to love, while newcomers should expect old-school level design and a challenge that demands attention.
