Monogon Industries hides a surreal conspiracy beneath the clean corporate surfaces of its MythOS operating system, and BONEWORKS turns that mystery into one of VR’s most tactile action adventures. You play as security director Arthur Ford, pushing deeper into a simulated facility where malfunctioning systems, hostile constructs, and unsettling experimental spaces gradually reveal a larger story. The tone blends sci-fi thriller intrigue with moments of slapstick chaos, because almost every loose object can become a tool, a weapon, or a problem. Rather than treating virtual reality as a shooting gallery, it asks you to inhabit a body and deal with the physical consequences of every decision.

Movement, combat, and puzzle solving all run on the same demanding physics framework. You climb pipes and ledges, haul crates into place, open doors by manipulating their mechanisms, balance across unstable platforms, and improvise routes when the intended solution seems inconvenient. Firearms have weight and recoil, melee weapons need convincing swings, and enemies react to impacts with a satisfying sense of mass; axes, swords, pistols, rifles, gravity-defying gadgets, and environmental traps all support different approaches. A full-body inverse-kinematics avatar makes reaching, crouching, bracing, and carrying objects feel unusually grounded, though the locomotion and body collisions can be intense for players still building their VR tolerance.

What separates BONEWORKS from many VR shooters is its willingness to let systems create the spectacle instead of scripting every encounter. Levels often feel like elaborate experimental playgrounds, rewarding curiosity, physical problem-solving, and the occasional ridiculous plan that somehow works. Its campaign is strongest for players who enjoy the emergent freedom of Half-Life: Alyx but want rougher, deeper simulation and far more hands-on experimentation. Veterans of room-scale VR will find a landmark sandbox full of memorable set pieces, while newcomers should approach carefully, use comfort settings, and expect a steeper learning curve than most virtual reality adventures.
