Bully: Scholarship Edition

Bullworth Academy turns the ordinary humiliations of teenage life into a scrappy open-world adventure full of fistfights, pranks, cliques, and petty revenge. You play Jimmy Hopkins, a rebellious fifteen-year-old dumped at a notoriously rough New England boarding school where jocks, nerds, preppies, greasers, and bullies all compete for status. The tone is sharply funny and mischievous, but its satire of school politics gives every rivalry a little bite. Rather than saving the world, Jimmy is trying to survive classes, earn respect, and make sure nobody else controls the hallways.

Days revolve around attending lessons, taking story missions, and roaming the school grounds and surrounding town for trouble or opportunities. Combat uses simple brawling, grapples, slingshots, stink bombs, firecrackers, and improvised weapons, with Jimmy usually fighting groups or exploiting the environment rather than acting like an unstoppable action hero. Classes become varied minigames that unlock useful rewards, from improved chemistry projectiles to new clothing options, while errands, bike races, carnival activities, collectibles, and side stories fill out the schedule. Progress follows the school year and its changing seasons, gradually opening new neighborhoods and escalating conflicts between Bullworth’s factions.

What makes Bully endure is its unusually detailed adolescent sandbox: prefects chase rule-breakers, students follow routines, social groups react differently to Jimmy, and even minor mischief can turn into a chaotic chase. Scholarship Edition expands the original release with extra classes, missions, characters, and visual improvements, though the PC version can still feel technically dated and occasionally rough around the edges. Rockstar’s familiar open-world mission design is present, but the smaller setting is more focused and personable than Grand Theft Auto’s criminal sprawl. Anyone who enjoys character-driven sandbox games, offbeat comedy, and low-stakes rebellion should find plenty to like, while veterans will appreciate how confidently it captures the weird social warfare of school life.
