The tone is clean, tactical, and tense, built around outthinking an opponent that refuses to let a winning strategy remain reliable.

Each round revolves around laying a path through the map, sending customized Byte waves forward, and limiting the punishment dealt by hostile turrets. Special tiles are the heart of the puzzle: protective effects soften dangerous stretches, jumps cross gaps, teleports bypass obstacles, and speed boosts can carry units beyond a turret’s killing zone. Formation matters as much as route planning, since tightly grouped Bytes and spread-out lines respond differently to area damage and concentrated fire. You can select from three Byte types or use the Byte Editor to tune a wave for a particular problem, then adjust when the defense changes.

Complexus gives the formula its bite by behaving like an opposing player with its own economy. As it destroys Bytes and survives rounds, it earns credits to purchase and improve one of eight turret types, meaning successful routes naturally invite new counters.
