Game Overview

A shapeless red organism tears through a sterile research complex, turning the usual survival-horror power fantasy inside out. CARRION casts you as the escaped experiment rather than the terrified survivor, and its grim pixel-art halls become a hunting ground for scientists, guards, and armed response teams. The mood is gleefully grotesque, mixing tense containment-facility dread with the dark satisfaction of becoming the threat behind every locked door. Its story stays deliberately cryptic, letting scattered flashbacks and environmental details hint at how this nightmare begins.

Movement is the star: the creature slides across floors, ceilings, vents, and water with an unnervingly fluid feel, using tentacles to grab prey and smash through obstacles. Each area presents a compact metroidvania-style maze where new biological abilities open sealed routes, disable security systems, and let you overcome stronger defenses. You gain powers such as camouflage, hardened armor, and devastating ranged attacks, while changes in body mass affect which passages you can fit through. Combat favors ambushes and momentum over careful aiming; snatch humans before they can call reinforcements, replenish health by feeding, and use your enormous bulk to turn squads into debris.

CARRION stands apart because it makes being the monster feel physical rather than merely cosmetic: the creature constantly writhes, stretches, and reshapes itself as it moves. Its 16-bit-inspired presentation is detailed enough to sell the violence and oppressive industrial setting without losing clarity during chaotic encounters. The adventure is focused rather than sprawling, with optional containment doors, hidden upgrades, and collectibles rewarding players who revisit earlier sectors. Fans of Metroid, Alien-inspired sci-fi horror, or unconventional indie action games should find plenty to enjoy, while newcomers benefit from accessible controls and a campaign that rarely wastes time.
