A decaying estate in 1970s Central Europe becomes the stage for a slow-burning political horror story. You play Desmond, an operative working for a former totalitarian government trying to polish its image for the modern world, while being ordered to erase evidence of its crimes. The assignment seems simple: enter Oack Grove, recover sensitive files, and make the past disappear. Instead, the mansion reveals a much uglier secret tied to the ominous Project Alpha, turning a covert cleanup job into a claustrophobic nightmare.

Charon’s Staircase plays as a first-person adventure built around exploration, environmental storytelling, and puzzle solving rather than action-heavy combat. Desmond searches rooms, corridors, laboratories, and neglected grounds for documents, keys, clues, and mechanisms that open the route forward. Puzzles ask you to pay attention to the estate’s objects and history, often connecting practical tasks with the disturbing experiments and state violence buried within its walls.
