Its tone stays warm and storybook-like even as the central ideas grow increasingly clever, making it feel more inviting than punishing. Rather than relying on fast reflexes, it asks players to observe how a location changes across different points in history.

Each area revolves around shifting between past and present versions of the same space, then using those altered conditions to open routes, move machinery, or prevent hazards. A tree planted in the past may create a bridge in the future, while a ruined mechanism can be restored by visiting the era when it still works. The Inventor freezes time to halt moving platforms and dangerous obstacles, whereas the Snail handles tasks that require its smaller size and distinct movement options; swapping between them is essential. Platforming supports the puzzles without dominating them, and progression steadily introduces new combinations of temporal changes, character abilities, and environmental logic.
