His real weapon is not a sacred blade, but an army of Star Children created through bonds with twelve astrologically themed heroines known as the Star Maidens. Conception PLUS: Maidens of the Twelve Stars plays this knowingly absurd setup straight enough to support real character drama, while keeping a bright, colorful anime tone full of comedy, romance, and dungeon-crawling adventure. It is an unusual RPG where saving the world and building relationships are inseparable systems.

Most of the adventure alternates between spending time in town, strengthening Itsuki’s connections with the Star Maidens, and venturing into hazardous labyrinths. Relationship scenes unlock opportunities to create stronger Star Children, whose classes, elemental affinities, and inherited traits determine how well a party performs in battle. Combat uses turn-based encounters built around positioning: up to four children surround an enemy, exploit its weak sides, and coordinate group attacks to break through its defenses. Dungeon runs require practical party management, since children gain levels quickly but eventually retire, encouraging players to continually experiment with new lineups rather than rely on one perfect squad.

Its mixture of dating-sim structure, generational party building, and tactical formation battles gives it an identity few anime RPGs share. The expanded version adds polished presentation, more story material, and a smoother route into its eccentric world than the original release, though its fan-service-heavy premise remains a clear part of the package. Character interactions range from sweet to silly, and the broad class system gives repeat dungeon visits more variety than the straightforward maps initially suggest. Fans of Persona-style social links, dungeon RPG progression, and offbeat Japanese humor will find plenty to enjoy, while players seeking a serious, romance-free fantasy epic may want a more conventional adventure.
