The mood is more conversational and conspiratorial than action-heavy, with the pressure coming from what people tell you, what they hide, and how you choose to respond.

Most of the campaign unfolds through first-person exploration, detailed conversations, and a branching decision system that lets you question suspects, defuse confrontations, lie, threaten, or attempt to keep the peace. Voice interaction is a distinctive option: players can speak to the crew through the V.O.I.C.E. system, though conventional dialogue controls remain available. Combat exists, with firearms, defensive tools, and medical equipment at your disposal, but a diplomatic run can avoid violence entirely. Your conduct also shapes public perception and leads the six-to-ten-hour mystery toward different outcomes, giving repeat playthroughs real value rather than merely changing a final scene.

The remaster meaningfully updates the original with a modern engine, cleaner performance, an overhauled interface, revised scenes and dialogue, and a newly written ending. Its dense Information Console adds another layer for players who enjoy reading in-universe reports, blogs, mission files, and news coverage to piece together the setting’s politics. The Virtual Trainer offers standalone combat scenarios, leaderboards, and level-editing tools with mod support, giving action-minded players more to do beyond the narrative. Fans of Deus Ex, The Council, or old-school choice-driven RPGs should appreciate its ambition, especially if they prefer investigation and role-playing over constant shooting; newcomers should expect some rough-edged indie presentation, but the interactive storytelling remains unusually flexible.
