Constantine

A rain-slick Los Angeles becomes a battleground between Heaven, Hell, and everything caught in the middle. Playing as the cynical occult investigator John Constantine, you hunt for the reason demons are crossing into the human world despite ancient supernatural rules that should keep them out. The tone is grimy and apocalyptic rather than heroic, mixing religious iconography, noir attitude, and grotesque creatures drawn from the film’s interpretation of the DC character. Constantine is an early-2000s action adventure with a strong licensed-game feel, but its arsenal gives the familiar demon-hunting setup more personality than a standard shooter.

Most of the action unfolds from a third-person view as Constantine pushes through haunted streets, ruined interiors, hospitals, and infernal spaces packed with hostile spirits. Tight passages shift the camera into first person, creating a more claustrophobic perspective while you search for switches, keys, ritual items, and routes through environmental obstacles. Combat revolves around swapping between specialized holy weapons, including the rapid-fire Witch’s Curse revolvers, a Cross Shotgun, and explosive Holy Water Bombs, each useful against different enemy types. Defeated demons also provide souls that fuel supernatural attacks, so fights encourage you to balance ammunition, magical power, and the right tool for the threat in front of you.

Its strongest feature is the way conventional shooting sits alongside ritualistic weaponry and dark magic, making even familiar encounters feel tied to Constantine’s occult profession. The perspective changes are unusual and occasionally awkward, while the dated visuals and straightforward level design reveal the era, but the atmosphere remains effectively bleak. Fans of The Suffering, Max Payne-era action games, or supernatural shooters with a horror edge will find a compact, moody diversion here. Newcomers should expect old-school stiffness and some trial-and-error, whereas veterans of licensed PS2-era action games may appreciate its unapologetically strange demon-slaying toolkit.
