Combat revolves around switching the suit’s powers on the fly. Armor mode lets you absorb punishing fire, Cloak allows stealthy flanking and ambushes, and enhanced strength supports high jumps, brutal melee attacks, and more aggressive movement. Levels usually push you toward an objective, but their arenas offer room to sneak past patrols, tag enemies, use elevated routes, hack defenses, or grab alien and human weapons before making a loud entrance. Energy management prevents the suit from becoming an effortless win button, especially on harder difficulties, while weapon customization lets you attach silencers, scopes, and other upgrades in the field. The Maximum Edition also includes the Retaliation multiplayer content, though online activity depends on the current community and service availability.

What separates Crysis 2 from most military shooters is how naturally it mixes stealth, mobility, and direct gunfights without forcing one approach. Manhattan feels less like a true open world than a sequence of dense, replayable combat sandboxes, but its verticality and destructible details reward experimentation.
