Wolf Prime becomes a graveyard of shattered starships when an unseen force begins dragging vessels from the sky, leaving its frontier communities buried beneath wreckage, panic, and unanswered questions. Dark Sky is a tactical deckbuilding RPG built around that disaster, pairing a colorful science-fiction cast with a surprisingly tense fight for survival. Its world has room for humor and eccentric personalities, but the stakes stay serious as the party investigates a planet-wide catastrophe. Battles play out on a grid, with players taking turns to move heroes, read enemy attack plans, and spend cards to strike, defend, manipulate space, or set up stronger combos. Each mission asks you to combine individual character decks into one shared combat toolkit, so party selection directly changes the options available in a fight. Status effects are especially important: poisoning, charging, weakening, and other conditions can be layered together to trigger useful reactions and exploit specific enemy vulnerabilities. Progression goes beyond merely collecting better cards, since heroes gain levels, resources can be turned into new abilities, and individual cards follow branching upgrade paths that let you tune a build toward damage, control, defense, or support.

The strongest idea here is the way deck construction and battlefield movement constantly inform one another; a powerful attack means little if its target is out of range, while a risky position may create the perfect opening for a devastating turn. Characters feel mechanically distinct, from Squig’s holographic copies that operate as cover or weapon platforms to Norton’s ranged electricity and Agama’s rapid movement. Multiple saved deck configurations encourage experimentation and make it easier to adapt a squad to different threats instead of committing to one universal strategy. Fans of Slay the Spire-style card planning who want the spatial tactics of Into the Breach should find plenty to enjoy, while newcomers can appreciate its readable turn-based structure even as later build decisions demand more careful thought.
