Game Overview

A breakup conversation turns into a volatile supernatural standoff in this vampire-themed visual novel, where obsession is not a warning sign so much as the foundation of every relationship. You play a customizable protagonist determined to end an ill-defined romance, only to receive a marriage proposal wrapped around what may or may not be an attempted murder. The tone balances darkly comic melodrama with genuine possessiveness, unreliable narration, and consensual yandere romance. Darling, Darling… Dead? treats its dangerous love triangle as a character-driven mystery, asking who is manipulating whom and whether anyone involved is telling the whole truth.

Reading choices guide the story through confrontations, romantic pressure, and increasingly suspicious revelations rather than traditional action or resource management. The central loop involves following conversations closely, deciding whose version of events to trust, and replaying key scenes to uncover alternate points of view and route-specific details. Story Mode offers a more directed first run, limiting perspective changes to the scenes where they matter and leading to three of the available endings. Exploration Mode opens the structure considerably, with separate routes for X, Levon, or a mixed path, branching decisions, achievements, collectible-style imagery, and an in-game guide that becomes useful after completing an ending.

Its strongest idea is the shifting perspective system: scenes gain a different meaning once other characters’ inner thoughts are available, encouraging rereads instead of treating a completed route as the end. The protagonist’s selectable name and sprite add a small but welcome degree of personal ownership without weakening the authored personality needed for the story’s escalating drama. With more than 60,000 words, nine CGs, thirteen item illustrations, and several endings across its route map, it offers roughly five to eight hours for players aiming to see everything. Fans of obsessive romance visual novels, tangled relationship dramas, and replay-heavy games such as Crimson Gray or The Letter should find plenty to enjoy, while newcomers should be comfortable with intense themes and morally messy characters.
