Dawn Bell

An amnesiac girl wakes inside an ancient castle where every corridor feels designed to hide a lie. Dawn Bell is a compact 2D side-scrolling horror adventure built around uneasy exploration, quiet dread, and a mystery that gradually becomes more personal. The fortress is oppressive rather than action-heavy, using its locked rooms, traps, and unsettling atmosphere to keep tension high. A second lost child soon becomes part of the escape attempt, turning a solitary nightmare into an uneasy partnership.

Progress centers on searching rooms for usable objects, reading environmental clues, and working through puzzles that open new routes through the castle. The two protagonists cooperate to deal with obstacles and hazards, while recovered details slowly suggest who they were before waking here. Choices made during the story affect how events unfold and lead toward one of four endings, giving even its relatively short 70-to-120-minute runtime a reason for repeat playthroughs. Keyboard, mouse, and Xbox controller support make it easy to play in the preferred style, and autosaving reduces the frustration of revisiting difficult puzzle sections.

Hand-drawn 2D environments and Live2D character animation give the cast more expression than the game’s side-scrolling format initially suggests. Original music carries much of the horror, favoring ominous atmosphere and emotional uncertainty over constant jump scares or combat pressure. Its focused scale makes it a good fit for players who enjoy story-first indie horror such as The Witch’s House, Mad Father, or other puzzle-driven escape tales, though it offers a more linear side-view presentation.
