Game Overview

A dying phone screen is all that separates Sarah from the darkness of an abandoned hospital, and even that small comfort feels unreliable. Daylight is a first-person psychological horror game built around isolation, disorientation, and the constant sense that something is watching from just beyond the beam of your flashlight. Its corridors, treatment rooms, and underground spaces turn an ordinary escape premise into a tense supernatural investigation, with a grim, oppressive mood rather than action-heavy scares. The fear comes from noises behind you, doors that refuse to stay reassuringly closed, and the knowledge that turning around is often worse than continuing forward.

Survival means navigating a shifting maze with a smartphone that doubles as a flashlight and map, while glowsticks provide temporary pools of safety in especially dark areas. You search for hidden notes and spectral clues called remnants, gradually uncovering the hospital’s tragic history and unlocking the way to the next section. There are no weapons and no satisfying way to fight back, so encounters with the hostile shadowy presence demand awareness, quick movement, and a willingness to keep your nerve when the route ahead disappears. Procedurally assembled layouts alter item locations and corridor arrangements between runs, while the campaign remains a focused solo experience designed for a single unnerving evening.

Daylight stands out most through its smartphone interface and its attempt to make navigation itself part of the horror; checking your map can feel useful one moment and dangerously distracting the next. Unreal Engine 4 lighting gives the environments a cold, wet, decayed look, although the procedural design can occasionally make rooms feel less hand-crafted than the best scripted horror locations. Players who enjoy the defenseless tension of Outlast, the haunted-institution atmosphere of early Silent Hill, or jump-scare-driven indie horror will find plenty to like here. It suits newcomers who want accessible controls and a short scare session, while genre veterans should approach it for its atmosphere and replayable maze structure rather than deep puzzles or complex survival systems.

Setup Guide & Troubleshooting

How do I fix missing DLL errors for Daylight?

After extracting Daylight, navigate to the _Redist or _CommonRedist folder inside the game directory and install DirectX, Vcredist, and any other dependencies included.

What should I do if the downloaded file is corrupted?

The full archive is 2.12 GB — make sure your download completed fully before extracting. Use 7-Zip to extract the files. If you still see a "file corrupted" error, re-download and try again.

Why should I run the game as administrator?

Right-click the game executable and select "Run as Administrator" to avoid save file issues and permission errors. This is especially important on the first launch.

How do I update my GPU drivers for this game?

Daylight requires a  DX11 with Feature Level 11 or equivalent. Update your NVIDIA or AMD drivers to the latest version for the best performance.

The game won't launch — what should I try?

This game requires  Version 11. Try running in compatibility mode, install the latest DirectX runtime, or install the All-in-One VC Redist Package.

My antivirus is blocking the game — is it safe?

Antivirus false positives are common with pre-installed games. Temporarily pause your antivirus during extraction to prevent it from quarantining game files. You can re-enable it after the extraction completes.
