Players choose from four survivors with distinct skill trees and strengths, then accept quests, scavenge supplies, rescue stranded civilians, and push through a campaign uncovering the outbreak’s origins. Combat centers on kicking enemies back, targeting limbs, swinging pipes and machetes, and modifying weapons with elemental effects such as fire, electricity, or poison. Loot and experience steadily improve your odds, although tougher infected types make careless solo play dangerous, especially at night or in cramped interiors. Up to four players can tackle the story together online, turning difficult missions and chaotic zombie swarms into a co-op brawl; the package also includes the previously released expansions and arena content.

Its story and controls show their age, but the messy sandbox combat remains enjoyable with friends, particularly for players who like Dying Light’s melee focus but prefer a slower, more loot-driven structure.
