Map-generation settings also support anything from dense land wars to naval island-hopping scenarios, while capable AI provides meaningful resistance on both the strategic and tactical layers. The interface and visuals feel deliberately traditional, so newcomers should expect a learning curve and a lot of statistics rather than the immediate polish of modern 4X releases.
