Rain and neon define a ruined future England where private investigator Matthew Wallace works cases that powerful people would rather bury. Set in 2112 after a devastating global conflict, the story mixes cyberpunk grime with detective-noir suspicion as Wallace follows a trail of corruption, old war scars, and personal secrets. DeTechtive 2112 frames its mystery through five connected investigations, with secretary Abigail acting as Matthew’s sole dependable partner. The mood is dark, tense, and stylish, built around the feeling that every wealthy client, alleyway informant, and armed guard has something to hide.

Each case takes place on its own map and asks players to gather clues, navigate hostile locations, and decide how directly to deal with opposition. Sneaking past patrols, quietly removing threats, planning an ambush, or committing to open gunfights are all valid approaches, so missions do not force one detective fantasy on everyone. Combat and stealth share space with exploration, while the larger narrative gradually links seemingly separate jobs into one conspiracy. Up to four players can investigate together in co-op, making it possible to divide attention between scouting routes, covering allies, searching environments, and handling enemies when a careful plan inevitably collapses.

Its strongest feature is the blend of case-based detective structure and tactical action rather than a purely dialogue-driven mystery. Unreal Engine 5 visuals support the atmosphere with wet streets, towering city structures, harsh artificial lighting, and decaying spaces that sell the setting’s exhausted post-war character. The five-case format gives the campaign a focused, episodic pace while still building toward a larger answer about Matthew’s past and the city’s ruling class. Players who enjoy the covert flexibility of Deus Ex, the grim urban mood of Blade Runner, or co-op action games with a narrative spine should find plenty to like, especially if they prefer solving problems their own way rather than following a single scripted route.
