Most of your time goes toward investigating cases, speaking with contacts, searching dungeons in EDEN and the real world, and preparing a flexible roster for turn-based fights. Battles use three active Digimon alongside a large reserve, rewarding smart use of elemental weaknesses, support skills, status effects, and timely swaps rather than button-mashing. Over 300 Digimon can be scanned from defeated enemies, trained on the DigiFarm, evolved through branching Digivolution lines, or even de-digivolved to improve long-term stats and unlock better forms. The progression has real depth: meeting evolution requirements involves level, attributes, friendship, and ABI management, so building a dream team feels more involved than simply catching stronger monsters.

Its strongest feature is the sheer freedom of its evolution system, which encourages experimentation with obscure forms instead of locking creatures into one permanent route. Hacker’s Memory also adds a more personal hacker-focused perspective and a few mechanical refinements, making the package feel like two full-length JRPGs rather than a short expansion. Dungeon layouts can become repetitive and the story pacing occasionally drags during dialogue-heavy stretches, but the combat and collecting loop remain compelling.
