Set in the Treasure Planet universe, Battle of Procyon follows young Jim Hawkins as he serves the Royal Navy against pirates and the dangerous Procyon Fleet, gradually rising from cadet duties toward fleet command. Its battles feel like Age of Sail warfare relocated to a glittering galaxy: ships tack through solar winds, circle for firing angles, and trade volleys of lasers, torpedoes, and plasma fire. The tone stays adventurous and accessible, but the campaign carries enough military pressure to make each victory feel earned.

Command begins with selecting ships, plotting routes across the star map, and positioning fleets before an engagement turns chaotic. Vessels have distinct roles, from nimble torpedo boats and pirate gunboats to durable frigates and the powerful StarHammer, while factions favor different approaches: the Navy absorbs punishment, Procyon ships strike quickly, and pirates bring unconventional tools to the field. Combat goes beyond simply focusing fire, letting players use multiple waypoints, panic-fire orders, specialized secondary controls, repairs, towing, docking, grappling, and boarding maneuvers. Campaign success improves crews, weapons, and fleet capabilities, while skirmish and multiplayer modes open all major sides for custom battles.

What separates Battle of Procyon from more conventional RTS games is its commitment to spatial naval combat. The sailing-ship silhouettes and wind-driven movement make every turn, pursuit, and broadside matter, yet the arsenal remains proudly science-fictional, with beam weapons, gravity effects, harpoons, mines, nets, mortars, and more. It is an older title, so its interface and presentation show their age, but the tactical ideas remain distinctive and satisfyingly readable. Fans of Homeworld, naval strategy games, or Disney’s more adventurous side find plenty to enjoy, especially if they want an RTS that rewards formation control and clever maneuvering rather than overwhelming unit spam.
