An unnamed invaded country becomes the testing ground for VEIL, a military organization that lets you direct soldiers remotely through an experimental communication network. From the safety of a home computer, you watch forests, streets, and hostile strongholds through airborne cameras while the people below rely on every order you issue. The mood is less about heroic run-and-gun action than the unnerving responsibility of making life-or-death calls from a screen.

You command six soldiers divided across Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, and Echo squads, issuing movement and combat orders in real time while tracking enemy positions from above. Success depends on using cover, suppressing defenders, coordinating assaults, and avoiding the kind of reckless push that leaves a squad member dead. Tough positions call for heavier tools, including artillery strikes, rocket launchers, and explosive drone support, but these assets do not replace careful planning. The campaign spans ten story missions in varied environments, with three hidden experimental stages, while a reactive mission-report system changes files and emails according to how operations unfold.

The most interesting layer sits outside the battlefield: VEIL OS functions as an in-fiction desktop where you manage messages, update software, and investigate increasingly suspicious events surrounding the company funding the war effort. That presentation gives the strategy missions a paranoid techno-thriller edge, especially as outside assistance can apparently alter events within the simulation itself. A built-in editor and community map support add longevity for players who want to design their own encounters after the story unlocks those tools. Fans of Frozen Synapse’s remote-command tension or the squad coordination of Door Kickers should find plenty to like, although newcomers need patience for the pressure of real-time orders and the game’s deliberately hands-off perspective.
