Your guide is Simmer, an undead chef whose advice is useful, suspicious, and frequently ridiculous as he pushes you toward an escape route. The tone stays gleefully weird, populated by unhinged factions and enemies that make even ordinary ingredients feel dangerous.

Combat revolves around hunting bizarre wildlife, gathering its usable parts, and deciding what deserves a place in your limited stomach. You can consume up to seven dishes at once, with each recipe providing effects such as healing, improved damage, elemental defenses, mobility perks, or unusual combat advantages; building a meal is effectively building your character class. Ingredients that do not go into dinner become materials for weapons and equipment, encouraging you to experiment with pairings between your loadout and diet.
