Runs also involve collecting resources from battles and events, buying recruitment opportunities, acquiring relics, and choosing paths through procedurally assembled maps. Defeating major enemies reshapes the route and pushes the campaign toward its final threat, although access to that showdown requires completing enough optional challenges along the way.

The strongest idea here is the way a slot mechanic creates changing tactical choices instead of reducing combat to passive chance. With two dozen unlockable heroes, dozens of relics, event cards, arenas, enemies, and bosses, repeated attempts should reveal unfamiliar team combinations and unusual problems to solve. The puppet-theater framing gives the random story moments more personality than the usual abstract roguelike event screen, while the rotating pool of available recruits prevents every expedition from following an identical build.
