Dungeonball

A damp, hostile labyrinth becomes an arena where every fight is decided by the force and accuracy of a thrown ball. Dungeonball turns first-person dungeon crawling into a compact physics-driven roguelike, asking you to evade incoming shots, grab whatever is useful, and fire back before a room overwhelms you. Its mood is mischievous rather than grim, even when the danger ramps up on lower floors and mistakes become costly. The goal is straightforward but compelling: push as far beneath the dungeon as possible, then return for another attempt when the run ends.

Moment to moment, you navigate randomly assembled rooms while using your hands as both weapons and tools. You catch or block hostile attacks, hurl balls at enemies, carry keys needed to open the way forward, and decide whether to consume healing potions immediately or keep them for a tougher encounter. Physics gives each encounter a pleasingly scrappy quality, since thrown objects have weight and unpredictable results can emerge from a well-placed shot or a panicked grab. Even the dungeon’s slimes are potential ammunition, letting you pick them up and fling them into walls or enemies when conventional dodgeball tactics are not enough.

What separates Dungeonball from a typical first-person roguelike is its commitment to tactile, physical interactions instead of guns, swords, or elaborate character builds. Runs are intentionally brief—around an hour at most—making it better suited to concentrated sessions than a huge, progression-heavy campaign. The escalating procedural layouts keep repeat attempts from feeling identical, while the simple premise makes the action easy to understand almost immediately. Players who enjoy the quick-run structure of roguelikes and the chaotic object play of physics sandboxes should find plenty to like, especially if they want a lighter, stranger alternative to traditional dungeon combat.
