A late-night distress call pulls a police officer toward a suburban house with a history no investigation has managed to explain. Faint Call is a compact psychological horror walking simulator built around the discomfort of entering a place everyone else has learned to avoid. The house’s past involves a murdered family, ritualistic markings, and a later visitor who comes looking for internet fame but encounters something far worse. Its mood is oppressive rather than action-heavy, relying on isolation, uncertainty, and the feeling that each room is hiding part of an unfinished story.

Players search the property, inspect clues, collect useful objects, and solve environmental puzzles that gradually open new paths through the house. Progress depends on paying attention to details and recognizing how locations change, with the layout sometimes encouraging uneasy repetition and disorientation. Danger is present, so exploration is not simply a matter of wandering at leisure; strange threats and unsettling events force careful movement through cramped interiors. The campaign lasts roughly 40 to 60 minutes, making it a focused horror session rather than a sprawling survival adventure.

Its strongest calling card is the VHS presentation, which filters the haunted-house investigation through cassette noise, visual distortion, muted color, and tracking glitches. Unreal Engine 5 lighting and detailed geometry give the environments a convincing physical presence beneath that degraded recording effect, creating an effective contrast between modern rendering and retro horror aesthetics. Sound also does substantial work, from stormy ambience and creaking doors to changing footsteps that make ordinary movement feel suspicious. Faint Call suits players who enjoy short, story-led scares in the vein of indie VHS horror and PT-inspired corridor nightmares, especially those who prefer puzzles and atmosphere over combat mastery.
