A chaotic anime academy becomes the stage for a deliberately absurd first-person shooter where romance, demon hunting, and slapstick fan service collide. Gal*Gun 2 casts you as a student whose strange Pheromone Shot sends infatuated attackers into euphoric defeat, while a demonic outbreak turns every hallway and classroom into a frantic defense zone. The tone is knowingly silly rather than serious, leaning into colorful character designs, exaggerated reactions, and branching romantic complications involving angelic helper Risu, neighbor Chiru, and childhood friend Nanako. Its story regularly swerves between dating-sim drama and supernatural nonsense, making it far more playful than the average rail shooter.

Most combat takes place on guided routes, where waves of possessed students rush from every direction and demand fast target prioritization. You aim for weak points, charge more powerful shots, fend off close-range attacks, and use the Demon Sweeper to vacuum up troublesome creatures before they overwhelm you. Between action sequences, the academy schedule lets you choose quests, respond to requests from students, build relationships, and unlock additional scenes and missions. Difficulty comes from managing constant ambushes and avoiding a crowded screen, while repeated runs encourage better scores, alternate story paths, collectibles, costumes, and completion of the many optional objectives included with the DLC content.

What separates Gal*Gun 2 from standard light-gun shooters is its combination of on-rails shooting, relationship management, and outrageous supernatural comedy. The Pheromone Shot is more than a novelty: its aiming, charging, and crowd-control demands give encounters a surprisingly arcade-like rhythm, especially when enemies arrive from multiple angles. Visual-novel conversations and route choices provide a reason to revisit chapters beyond chasing high scores, although the overtly suggestive humor is absolutely central to the package and will not suit every player. Fans of House of the Dead-style shooting who enjoy anime dating games, Senran Kagura’s irreverent tone, or deliberately bizarre Japanese games find plenty to enjoy, while players seeking a restrained story or traditional shooter should look elsewhere.
