Gerty (v1.0)

A besieged mining colony becomes a deadly underground war zone where every wall can be a shortcut, shield, or fatal mistake. Gerty is a top-down roguelite twin-stick shooter built around desperate runs into alien-infested Juice mines, with a mercenary squad descending toward the source of an escalating invasion. The mood sits somewhere between arcade intensity and sci-fi survival horror: swarms close in fast, resources matter, and permanent death keeps every push into the dark tense. Rather than simply clearing preset corridors, you blast, dig, and improvise through a planet that rarely gives you a safe route.

Combat revolves around aiming and firing in one direction while moving independently, demanding sharp positioning when creatures surround you. Laser-diggers let you tear through the destructible terrain, opening flanking paths, escaping ambushes, uncovering rewards, or shaping cover to control a fight. Each procedurally generated run sends you through compact mines filled with hostile life, abandoned machinery, strange alien structures, runes, and altars that can alter the situation. Juice crystals feed upgrades, while perks and purchasable equipment let a run evolve around damage, survivability, mobility, or specialized tactics; failure costs the current attempt, but unlocks steadily expand the available gear and character roster. Five difficulty levels and additional settings give solo players room to learn, while local co-op supports a more coordinated, chaotic descent.

Destruction is the feature that gives Gerty its own identity in a crowded roguelite shooter field. The ability to literally redraw the battlefield makes encounters feel less like pure dodging tests and more like rapid problem-solving, especially when a direct tunnel is riskier than carving a new route around an enemy nest. Four playable characters bring distinct abilities and preferred playstyles, adding meaningful variety as the challenge ramps up. Fans of the fast twin-stick pressure of Nuclear Throne or the procedural progression of Enter the Gungeon should find plenty to enjoy, particularly if they want a tougher game that rewards mechanical skill, experimentation, and repeated runs.
