A mercenary wakes inside a decaying asylum with a hole in his memory and one horrifying image he cannot shake: a teenage girl wearing a bomb. GET EVEN blends psychological horror, first-person shooting, and investigative drama into a tense, deliberately disorienting mystery. Guided by the cryptic voice of his captor, Red, protagonist Cole Black uses the experimental Pandora headset to revisit fractured memories that may be true, manipulated, or something far worse. The mood is cold, oppressive, and paranoid, with abandoned hospitals, corporate facilities, and war-torn locations constantly blurring the line between the past and the present.

Most of the experience revolves around searching detailed environments for clues, listening to recordings, interrogating the evidence, and deciding how Black handles armed threats. Combat supports direct gunfights, but stealth is often the smarter route, especially when using the CornerGun, a weapon that lets Black aim around cover without exposing himself. A smartphone-like device acts as a useful investigative tool, scanning scenes for hidden evidence, hacking electronics, tracking objectives, and revealing information that can reshape the player’s understanding of events. Encounters are less about arcade-style shooting than maintaining caution, conserving awareness, and choosing whether enemies live or die, while the story reacts to the evidence collected and the decisions made.

What makes GET EVEN memorable is its willingness to turn its narrative uncertainty into a mechanic: revisiting memories feels like investigating an unreliable crime scene from inside the suspect’s mind. Its visual style combines realistic locations with surreal glitches and unsettling transitions, while composer Olivier Deriviere’s adaptive score responds to player behavior and keeps exploration unnerving. The shooting lacks the polish of dedicated military FPS games, but the mystery, atmosphere, and investigative tools carry the experience. Players who enjoy Condemned, F.E.A.R., SOMA, or story-heavy thrillers with moral ambiguity find more to appreciate here than those looking for nonstop action.
