Ghost Case

A decades-old killing turns Hidden Town into a compact, uneasy puzzle box where the dead refuse to stay silent. Ghost Case casts players as detective Ren Larsen, who receives unsettling messages that push him to reopen an investigation everyone else has abandoned. Its horror is more melancholy than bloody, built from abandoned rooms, suspicious locals, and the constant sense that every location is hiding part of a terrible truth. The result is a hand-drawn point-and-click mystery with a deliberately grim atmosphere and a story that rewards careful attention.

Ren travels between key sites around town, including the original crime scene, a cemetery, an asylum, a police station, and several homes tied to the victims and suspects. Progress comes from examining scenery, collecting useful objects, questioning characters, and figuring out how inventory items fit together to open new paths. Puzzles range from traditional locks and pattern challenges to observation-based riddles, so players spend most of their time connecting clues rather than dealing with action sequences. A map keeps the investigation manageable, while an in-game hint system helps prevent a single obscure solution from stopping the case cold.

Dark Dome’s distinctive illustrated art gives each screen a storybook quality, but muted colors, distorted details, and ominous music ensure it never feels cozy. Two endings add some reason to revisit the investigation, and nine hidden owl collectibles give completionists another layer to search for in otherwise overlooked corners. It also connects to other Hidden Town mysteries, especially The Girl in the Window and Haunted Laia, although newcomers can follow Ren’s case without prior knowledge. Fans of Rusty Lake, Cube Escape, and classic escape-room adventures will find a focused, accessible mystery here, while veteran puzzle players may appreciate its interconnected setting and willingness to hide important details in plain sight.
