The tone is spooky but knowingly playful, full of haunted-house stereotypes, eccentric civilians, and darkly comic scenarios spread across locations such as an asylum, police station, military facility, and student housing.

Each mission begins with choosing which ghosts to bring, then anchoring them to suitable objects around the map and directing their abilities at living targets. Banshees, gremlins, poltergeists, and other apparitions specialize in different forms of torment, from unsettling victims with whispers and visions to physically disrupting rooms or exploiting a character’s specific fears. Successful scares generate the resources needed to manifest stronger powers, so the central loop is about building panic efficiently while completing plot objectives and working around environmental limitations. Missions reward observation and planning: residents follow routines, rooms contain useful haunting anchors, and the best solutions often involve combining several ghosts’ effects in the right order.

What separates it from more aggressive supernatural games is its emphasis on indirect control. You are not hunting people yourself; you arrange the conditions for disasters, chain reactions, and escalating terror, closer to a mischievous paranormal management game than an action title. The remake’s updated visuals, improved AI, refreshed mechanics, branching scenarios, secrets, and eleven varied maps give the old concept a more contemporary framework without losing its oddball identity.
