Its tone is gleefully silly rather than grim, with wobbly enemies, exaggerated reactions, and a deliberately crude visual style that keeps the violence more comedic than disturbing. Combat revolves around physically grabbing, swinging, blocking, throwing, and punching with motion controllers. Arena fights escalate from smaller skirmishes to crowded challenges and boss encounters, while new weapons and stages continually change how you approach a fight. Movement uses VR-friendly options designed to reduce discomfort, though the constant turning, arm-swing locomotion, and frantic close-range action still make it best suited to players with a decent tolerance for active VR games.

What separates GORN from more serious melee games is its commitment to chaos: enemies crumple, weapons bend and bounce, and victories often look more like accidental comedy than disciplined swordplay. The campaign does not aim for deep story, realistic fencing, or competitive multiplayer; it succeeds by making every arena feel like a toy box full of dangerous tools. Free Lives’ irreverent style, familiar from Broforce, gives the action a playful personality even when the screen is covered in exaggerated carnage. Fans of Blade & Sorcery who want less simulation and more immediate arcade mayhem find plenty to enjoy, while VR newcomers should start slowly and make sure they have ample room to swing.
