Corporate espionage becomes a tightly coordinated two-person heist in Hacktag, an asymmetric stealth game set in a slick 2029 ruled by rival animal-run megacorporations. One mercenary infiltrates offices, labs, and restricted facilities in person, while their partner assaults the same target from a digital control room. The result feels like a light, arcade-driven spy caper rather than a punishing stealth simulator, with colorful anthropomorphic characters offsetting the tension of alarms, guards, and countdowns. Its strongest moments come from shouting out a locked route, spotting a camera at the last second, and trusting a teammate to open the path before everything goes wrong.

The Agent works through isometric 3D environments, sneaking past patrols, collecting objectives, avoiding security, and moving quickly when a clean plan falls apart. Meanwhile, the Hacker sees a schematic-style virtual layer and rewires the building from afar, interacting with cameras, doors, terminals, phones, and other systems through compact hacking challenges. Missions spread across 24 stages and three corporations, with jobs built around tasks such as neutralizing alarms, accessing protected areas, or extracting captives under pressure. Online and local co-op support make the intended format easy to enjoy, while solo players can switch between both roles themselves; experience unlocks active tools and passive upgrades that expand each specialist’s options.

Hacktag stands out because neither player is merely support: the field operative and the digital infiltrator receive different information, separate interactions, and their own narrative perspective. A playful competitive layer also tracks performance between partners, so cooperation matters but personal bragging rights remain part of every successful operation. Hundreds of cosmetic items give its animal agents a surprising amount of personality, and leaderboard challenges add incentive to revisit missions for cleaner, faster runs. Players who enjoy the communication-heavy co-op of Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, combined with accessible stealth reminiscent of Monaco, should find plenty to like, especially with a regular partner; solo play works, but the split-role teamwork is clearly the main attraction.
