Hands of Necromancy II (v2025.02.19)

Old-school spell-slinging FPS combat drives a dark fantasy campaign where necromancy is both a weapon and a survival tool. Players choose between the returning, swaggering Necromancer and a calculating new sorceress, with each hero bringing an entirely separate arsenal, magical toolkit, monstrous forms, and personality to the adventure. Their pursuit of overwhelming power crosses haunted fortresses, sun-blasted badlands, villages, and oppressive caverns, giving the game a pulpy, grimy tone reminiscent of 1990s shooters without losing its own occult identity.

Combat revolves around tearing through large enemy packs with enchanted firearms and destructive spells, then reanimating defeated opponents to create a temporary undead fighting force. Returning magic includes crowd-control tornadoes, freezing ice rings, and explosive holy grenades, while the second protagonist relies on tools such as a health-stealing blade, fire-launching jewelry, and a grenade that scatters smaller explosives across a wide zone. Both characters steadily gain transformations that do more than increase damage: different creature forms can squeeze through narrow gaps, survive underwater, cross lava, or fly to secrets and alternate routes. Environmental hazards and interactable objects add welcome chaos, from combustible foliage and explosive containers to breakable scenery and lethal traps.

The two-character structure is the strongest reason to revisit the campaign, since changing heroes reshapes the feel of combat instead of merely swapping a few animations. Twenty-four levels across three chapters offer a substantial run of exploration, monster clearing, hidden-path hunting, and boss battles against a roster of 26 enemy types. Its chunky retro presentation and fast movement should appeal to players who enjoy the supernatural firepower of Hexen, the key-and-secret exploration of classic Doom, or modern boomer shooters with more inventive traversal. Newcomers can enjoy the straightforward action, while veterans get the most from replaying stages with the other necromancer and experimenting with every transformation.
