New Elysian feels unusually lived-in for an indie horror game, packed with strange broadcasts, a large selection of TV programming, talk radio, music, and scattered lore concerning Obscura Biotech and the restaurant’s warped mascots. The cooking loop has the escalating panic of Overcooked, but its lonely first-person structure and surreal horror atmosphere sit closer to Five Nights at Freddy’s or Chilla’s Art-style oddities. Players who enjoy unconventional horror, dense environmental storytelling, and intentionally clumsy fast-food pressure will find plenty to chew on, though anyone seeking polished combat or constant scares may find its deliberately weird pacing less appetizing.
