Game Overview

A dying realm gives you only a few days at a time to prepare for the next terror sent by the Demon King. He Is Coming is a dark fantasy roguelite RPG built around mounting pressure: daylight is for scavenging, trading, and improving a fragile hero, while night brings hostile creatures and the constant threat of a far stronger hunter. Rather than sending you through a fixed campaign, it asks you to survive a shifting chain of enemies whose abilities can completely change the value of your equipment. The mood is tense and deliberate, with every detour carrying the risk of leaving you underprepared for the next major fight.

Each cycle revolves around searching the world for weapons, armor, shields, artifacts, merchants, and ancient forges before a new boss begins pursuing you every third day. Combat centers on carefully assembled builds, with stats such as attack power, armor, health, speed, and special effects determining whether you can outlast an enemy or destroy it before it acts. More than 350 items support a broad range of synergies, but the important twist is that no single loadout remains ideal for long. A beast that bypasses armor pushes you toward health, mobility, or aggressive damage, while an opponent that steals your attack strength makes defensive tools, reflected damage, and passive effects far more valuable.

That boss-driven adaptation is the game’s strongest idea, giving its runs more tactical personality than a typical loot-focused roguelite. Over 30 possible elite enemies mean you need to read threats, improvise with what the map offers, and think beyond the immediate battle—an item that wins today may make tomorrow’s hunter deadlier. The escalating journey through multiple realms toward the Demon King also gives each run a clear long-term objective rather than reducing it to endless survival. Players who enjoy the build experimentation of Slay the Spire or the tense resource decisions of dark roguelike RPGs should find plenty to like, especially if they prefer planning and counterplay over pure reflexes.
