A spreading fungal corruption turns an insect kingdom into a desperate tactical battlefield, where every alliance carries as much weight as every attack. Hive Blight is an indie strategy adventure built around assembling small forces from rival clans and pushing back against the mysterious Fungomancer’s influence. Its colorful, lush setting gives the conflict a fairy-tale surface, but the decisions underneath are deliberately sharp: resources are limited, corrupted enemies are dangerous, and a poor team composition can derail a run. Rather than relying on one universal army, victory comes from understanding how very different insect warriors support, weaken, protect, and exploit one another.

Battles revolve around recruiting characters, choosing two factions to unite, and putting their specialized skills to work against the blight’s creatures. The aggressive Vespadas apply pressure and debilitating effects, the Silent Cabbale lean on poison, stealth, and ambushes, while the Sweet Symphoney keep allies alive and manipulate foes through their more unusual support tools. More than 30 units offer distinct stats and abilities, encouraging players to build around synergies instead of simply picking the strongest individual fighters. Between encounters, the world provides equipment, trinkets, potions, secret discoveries, sacred altars, and forge upgrades that can substantially alter a squad’s capabilities. Deciding whether to spend, save, enhance existing gear, or pursue a risky power boost forms an important part of the campaign’s momentum.

The faction-pairing system is Hive Blight’s strongest idea, since it makes experimentation central rather than optional. A stealthy poison setup plays very differently from a direct assault force backed by healing and control, giving repeated attempts room for fresh tactics. Its hand-drawn insect fantasy identity also helps it stand apart from darker, more familiar medieval strategy settings, even as the threat of corruption keeps the tone tense.
