INCISION (v1.0)

Indie 3.79 GB v1.0 1.3K views

Game Overview

A ruined, flesh-choked city becomes the arena for a savage old-school shooter that values reflexes, aggression, and survival over cinematic spectacle. INCISION channels the speed and hostility of 1990s FPS classics, throwing players into a nightmare shaped by the spreading Growth and daring them to carve a path through it. Its tone is relentlessly grimy and violent, pairing low-resolution industrial horror with fountains of gore and an oppressive sense that every room can kill you. There is little downtime or hand-holding: the objective is simple, keep moving, kill efficiently, and do not let the monsters gain control of the fight.

Combat revolves around rapid strafing, sharp aim, resource awareness, and mastering a compact but exceptionally destructive arsenal. Eight weapons each bring alternate functions that dramatically change their use, from a shotgun that launches explosive firebombs to a machine gun capable of firing grenades, while the revolver rewards stylish handling for greater damage. Enemies arrive in punishing combinations, forcing players to prioritize threats, exploit open spaces, and switch weapons instead of relying on one safe solution. Movement feels quick and responsive, encouraging the circle-strafing, projectile-dodging rhythm associated with Doom and Quake, but the damage output on both sides keeps every encounter tense.

What separates INCISION from a simple retro homage is its commitment to making every gun feel cruel, loud, and useful, including the saw-spear’s unusual mix of ranged slashes and close-range shredding. Its deliberately ugly, corrupted environments and horror-leaning soundscape give the carnage a nastier identity than the colorful arena combat of many modern boomer shooters. Frédérick Chicoine’s soundtrack moves between unsettling ambience and driving metal, matching the shift from nervous exploration to full-scale slaughter. Fans of DUSK, Blood, classic Doom, and difficult arcade-style FPS campaigns will find plenty to enjoy, while newcomers should expect a demanding lesson in speed, positioning, and controlled chaos.
