Game Overview

Abandoned research facilities become hunting grounds for a group of teenagers chasing the truth behind reports of horrific human experimentation. Inside the Labs is a 1–4 player survival-horror experience built around dark corridors, failed experiments, and the sense that every sound can expose your position. Its mood leans into paranoia rather than constant action: the laboratories are oppressive, the threats are unpredictable, and the answers to each site’s rumors come at real risk. Unreal Engine 5 visuals and distorted positional audio give the environments a grim, suitably clinical feel.

Each expedition revolves around entering a lab, searching its rooms for evidence and useful supplies, and completing objectives intended to reveal what happened there or contain the danger left behind. Players manage a limited inventory, select gear and perks before deployment, and decide whether to stick together or split up to cover more ground. Cash recovered during runs funds cosmetic items, while continued progress opens further characters, equipment, perks, and locations. Missions support solo play, but co-op is the intended tension multiplier: proximity voice chat uses walkie-talkies, and careless chatter may alert creatures that are already listening.

Rather than relying on fixed haunted-house scripting, Inside the Labs mixes multiple maps with randomized item placement, mutation appearances, and event triggers, so repeat visits do not play exactly the same way. Enemy AI is designed to treat the facility as familiar territory, forcing players to learn routes, hide intelligently, and react when a plan falls apart. Character backstories add some narrative texture beyond the usual “enter building, collect clues, escape” loop, while easy, normal, and hard settings make the premise approachable at different skill levels. Fans of co-op scares such as Phasmophobia and Labyrinthine, especially players who enjoy tense communication and scavenging under pressure, are the natural audience; horror veterans looking for a gun-heavy combat game may find its slower, stealthier approach more suited to group sessions.
