Players scout several regions for fertile ground and useful materials, then gather food, wood, stone, and other essentials to keep the settlement functioning. Villagers need appropriate equipment for their jobs, so a spear serves hunting better than a pickaxe, while axes make short work of trees and simpler blades fill other practical roles. Construction gradually moves from cave living to tents, mud dwellings, and sturdier stone homes, increasing population capacity and opening room for a more complex economy. Research drives progression by improving tribal skills and unlocking more effective tools, weapons, and methods of survival, while hunting, fishing, and foraging keep mouths fed.

Dinosaurs give the familiar settlement-management formula its identity, acting as both dangerous environmental threats and valuable sources of food or potential labor. Not every animal behaves alike: some creatures are passive prey, while carnivores attack openly or ambush hunters who stray too far from safety. Taming dinosaurs adds an appealing strategic layer, letting players turn part of the hostile ecosystem toward the tribe’s own needs. Jurassic Clans suits players who enjoy the resource chains and population balancing of Banished or Dawn of Man, but want a more fantastical prehistoric setting with monster-sized risks.
