Its mood is oppressive rather than action-heavy, mixing the tension of classic dungeon crawling with an ink-brush visual style that makes every torii gate, shrine, and monster feel pulled from a cursed Japanese painting.

Players create and customize a squad of warriors, shaping their statistics, abilities, and battlefield jobs before leading them into labyrinths full of traps, branching passages, quests, and punishing encounters. Combat is turn-based and relies heavily on formation management: tougher melee fighters occupy the front line, while ranged, magical, or more vulnerable allies contribute from the rear. Progress comes from surviving expeditions, gaining strength, improving equipment, and learning when to retreat before a promising run becomes a costly disaster. Mapping corridors, conserving resources, and building a party with complementary strengths matter as much as winning any individual fight.

The strongest feature is its commitment to the old-school dungeon RPG format without abandoning personality or atmosphere. Hand-drawn monochrome artwork, splashes of color, and designs rooted in Japanese myth give the familiar crawl-and-battle structure a distinct identity, while side content gradually reveals more of the ruined world’s unsettling history. Difficulty favors patience, planning, and a willingness to adapt a party after setbacks, so it feels closer to Wizardry and Experience Inc.’s dungeon crawlers than to a fast, story-led JRPG. Fans of methodical labyrinth exploration and grim folklore should find plenty to enjoy, while newcomers need to be ready for a deliberately demanding pace.
