LEGO City Undercover (Incl. Update 2)

A brick-built metropolis becomes a cheerful crime scene as undercover cop Chase McCain returns to LEGO City to stop escaped mastermind Rex Fury. The premise plays like a family-friendly police comedy, full of exaggerated chases, slapstick arrests, and jokes aimed at everything from classic films to modern crime dramas. Rather than treating its open world as a gritty sandbox, LEGO City Undercover makes every street, park, harbor, and rooftop feel like a toy box waiting to be smashed apart and rebuilt. Its tone stays relentlessly upbeat, making it an easy adventure for younger players without being dull for adults.

Chase spends much of the campaign following leads, infiltrating criminal operations, pursuing suspects, and solving environment-based problems across more than 20 districts. On foot, he brawls with crooks using simple LEGO-style combat, but the bigger attraction is switching disguises: a robber cracks safes, a miner destroys silver objects, a firefighter puts out flames, and other roles open routes that were previously inaccessible. Cars, helicopters, boats, and other vehicles can be found or unlocked, turning routine travel into playful destruction-filled detours. Stud collection, hidden bricks, vehicle tokens, character unlocks, and optional city activities give completionists plenty to chase after the main story, while local two-player co-op lets a second player join the patrol.

What separates it from other LEGO adventures is the original setting and unusually large city, which feels closer to a kid-friendly Grand Theft Auto parody than another licensed retelling. Missions are straightforward and the fighting offers little challenge, but the constant costume-based puzzles, dense collectible design, and broad comedy keep the pace lively. The world is especially fun to revisit once new abilities reveal secrets in earlier neighborhoods, though solo players should expect occasional backtracking. Fans of LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, LEGO Star Wars, or light open-world collectathons will feel immediately at home, while newcomers get one of the most accessible and amusing entries in the wider LEGO game catalogue.
