Game Overview

A vast, brutal city of corporations and back-alley syndicates provides the stage for a deckbuilding RPG where every visitor can become part of the collection. As the proprietor of an uncanny library, you welcome guests with carefully chosen invitations, then send your floor’s librarians into theatrical turn-based battles to claim their stories. Defeat is rarely clean or cheerful here: people are reduced to books, their lives and abilities catalogued on the shelves. Library of Ruina balances dark cyberpunk tragedy, strange humor, and dense world-building as it gradually reveals why its impossible library exists.

Battles revolve around assigning combat pages to each librarian, then watching their dice clash against enemy attacks in a system that rewards planning, speed management, and understanding opposing decks. Winning receptions earns books that can be burned for new cards, equipment-like Key Pages, and materials needed to assemble stronger decks for each floor. Different librarian teams gain specialized passive bonuses and access to powerful Abnormality Pages, letting players build around bleed, burn, stagger damage, defensive counterplay, or bizarre rule-changing effects. The campaign mixes lengthy visual-novel scenes with increasingly demanding encounters, and its difficulty can spike sharply when bosses begin punishing unfocused decks and careless sequencing.

What separates it from most card battlers is the sheer depth of its customization and the way combat feels like a tactical duel rather than a simple exchange of damage numbers. Its hand-drawn character art, stylish presentation, and grim setting carry the distinctive identity of Project Moon’s universe, while the enormous card pool invites constant experimentation. Story fans receive a sprawling, dialogue-heavy narrative with a large cast, whereas strategy veterans get some of the genre’s most intricate boss fights and deck-building puzzles. Anyone who enjoys Slay the Spire’s card synergies, Persona-style character-driven drama, or tactical RPGs with demanding systems should find plenty to obsess over, though newcomers should expect a steep learning curve rather than a casual introduction.
