Sound design carries much of the weight, replacing a traditional soundtrack, dialogue, and even a visible interface with footsteps, distant mechanical drones, water, wind, and stretches of unnerving silence. That stripped-back presentation makes each location feel more immediate, while also asking the player to tolerate getting lost and to create meaning from suggestion rather than exposition. Fans of Backrooms-style exploration, walking simulators, and the surreal unease of games such as The Exit 8 should find its patient pacing appealing. Liminal Universe suits players who value atmosphere over action and can enjoy wandering without constant rewards; anyone seeking combat, clear storytelling, or tightly structured puzzles may find its deliberate emptiness more frustrating than absorbing.
